Robyn Markowitz Lawler

Title: Marcus Family Executive Director

Robyn was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. Robyn has worked with students in various capacities since 2008, and has worked in the Hillel Movement since 2013.

In 2019, Robyn traded in her beloved Primanti Brothers sandwiches for ice cream at Berkey Creamery and a new adventure in Happy Valley. In 2022, she was honored with Hillel International’s Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award, recognizing her commitment to building meaningful Jewish life on campus.

When she’s not chasing after her kids or walking the family dog, she can be found quoting obscure 90s movies, breaking into spontaneous song (and the occasional dance), or unwinding with a crochet or embroidery project.

Robyn is also pursuing her second master’s degree at the Spertus Institute, which means she’s usually juggling schoolwork with a cup of coffee in hand.

She’s excited to meet students and stakeholders, hear their stories, and take them out for coffee, tea, or of course… ice cream!
